Definition of Terms

Conjunctiva

Conjunctiva is a thin, clear mucous membrane that coats the inner surfaces of the front of the eye and lines the inside of the eyelids.Inflammation of the conjunctiva is called conjunctivitis

Orbicular oris

Orbicularis oris consist of different numerous strata of muscle fibres that encloses the orifice of the mouth and control most movement of the mouth in different direction

Tendon

Tendon is a tissue that attaches a muscle to other body parts, normally to the bones. Tendons are the connective tissue that conveys the mechanical force of muscle contraction to the bones; the tendon is resolutely connected to muscle fibres at one end and to components of the bone at the other end.

Orbit

The orbit is the perforated cavity that protects the eye and its appendages. It gives access to the passage of nerves and blood vessels that occupies that lateral front of the skull. It can also be refer as the bony socket.

Optic nerve

The optic nerve connects the eye to the brain. It transmits impulses to the brain from the retina at the back of the eye.These impulses are dispatched through the optic nerve to the brain, which interprets them as images.

The space between the sheath of eyeball and the sclera

Eye ball is the more or less globular capsule of the vertebrate eye formed by the sclera and cornea together with their contained structures. It consist of the whole eye, including the part that cannot usually be seen

Crystalline lens

The crystalline lens is a transparent structure, along the cornea through which light light or refracted light is focused onto the retina of the eye.

Cornea

Cornea is the outermost transparent layer forming the front of the eye.

Eyelashes

Eyelashes one of the short curved hairs growing as a fringe on the edge of an eyelid. It protects the eyes

Tarsal glands

Tarsal glands is a form of sebaceous glands at the edge of each eyelid charged with the supply of meibum which creates a lipid barrier that prevents evaoration of the eye’s tear film

Limbus

Limbus is the border section of the eye where the cornea joins the sclera
